Rain has slowed and progress is ramping up!

The boat yard, The Great Cove Boat Club in Eliot, Maine, is now humming with folks working on their boats, uncovering, bottom painting, and other spring projects. Happy sounds and activity after a sleepy winter of storage!

Trawler “Clare” had her bottom stripped in the fall, and Dean has been dodging rain and cold the last few weeks, epoxying the bottom and sealing the bottom for 4 coats before the final two coats of bottom paint. Hopefully this big project will not have to be repeated for many years. I have had a minor role trimming, providing lunch (he never stops to eat otherwise), and making runs to the hardware store and Home Depot for supplies. We are thankful for brother John’s assistance with painting one weekend and son Ethan’s help with mounting the new the davits (as well as frequently buzzing by to check on dad!)- thank you!

6 coats later…A lot of hard work to make this hull so pretty!

The winter wrap is now off of “Clare,” and the new bimini is in production, and we are hoping to depart Maine the first week of June, weather and projects pending. Spring appears to finally be here!?
